Maestro Miguel Cruz Vizcarra at the primary school has been busy trying to get a clean-up project off the ground, and on Friday, Apr. 8th, his plan finally came to fruition. Last Friday morning, a very large grader worked for about three hours clearing away all the debris. The children were delighted and several of them spontaneously pitched in to help.

The playing field at the corner of calles Palmar and Coral inside the school grounds is the students' main play area for soccer and other games, and was an eyesore full of dead vegetation, rubble and garbage. Maestro Miguel wanted to take advantage of all the heavy equipment in town working on the bridge project, so a request was made to Judge Noé Plasencia, who set the plan in motion.

Ron and Kelly Krueger live across from the school and donated funds to help get the project going. The Krueger family has spent the last five months in Sayulita, and the four children are all attending school here, three at the secondary level, and one at the primary school. Ron says, "It's been a wonderful experience for our children, and we'd like to give something back to the community. I think tourists don't just want to visit Sayulita, they want to make a difference."

The next step in the yard process is to clean up the garbage from the periphery of the field, and then seed the area to grass. An alternative option would be artificial grass, which is considerably more expensive, but would last much longer.

The Krueger family were here in 2009 with an extended family group of twenty, and mention that they would have been happy to have participated in a painting or similar project at that time, with everyone pitching in. This is a great idea for the future, that could be utilized by other large groups of visiting tourists.
