The winter season for Grupo Pro Sayulita is about to begin.  We'll have our first weekly meeting on Wednesday, December 7, at noon, at Calypso.  And we always encourage you to get some lunch if you want (Ruben will deliver your sandwich upstairs) and eat it during our meeting.  Our meetings are pretty informal- we do have committee reports and chit-chat and we communicate about what's going on.  Often people have suggestions and some of them become major programs.

Some of our programs are ongoing and yes, with a bit of sweat, we keep them going with lots of help from volunteers.  Helping the public schools and teaching English after-school, helping with recycling, or figuring out the best way to keep our beach and streets clean, or helping to get signage up for better emergency response -- all this and more will be on our plates.  Last season, getting more police patrolling was a major new effort--- and it's happening.  But without support and without a few minutes of help, we simply can't continue.   Furthermore, the direction of our organization is determined by our volunteers--- that's why it's important that you tell us what you think at the weekly meetings.

The reality of all our programs is that we need to raise money-- through memberships and donations, through sales of books and calendars, and through our annual -"really-big-social-event-of-the-season" fundraiser.  Since that's our main source of revenue,  we'll be planning that from our very first meeting.  We hope that people will attend and volunteer for one aspect.  It's a lot of fun for everyone as we divide up the work, and in reality, Don Pedro's does the hardest part with food, drink, set up and service.

Planning a party can be a lot of fun, while helping the community at the same time.  Won't you come to our first meeting and give a hand?

Las Reuniones Semanales Estan De Regreso

Algunos de nuestros programas son progresivos, y sí, con un poco de sudor, los mantenemos funcionando con mucha ayuda de los voluntarios. Ayudando a las escuelas públicas y enseñando ingles despues de las horas de clases, ayudando con el reciclaje, o resolviendo la mejor manera de mantener nuestra playa y las calles limpias, o ayudando a conseguir señalizaciones para una mejor respuesta de los servicios de emergencia -- todo esto y más estará en nuestros platos. En la última temporada, conseguir más policía patrullando Sayulita, fué un nuevo y gran esfuerzo -- y está sucediendo. Pero sin apoyo y sin unos minutos de ayuda, simplemente no podemos continuar. Además, la dirección que toma nuestra organización está determinada por nuestros voluntarios -- por eso es importante que usted nos diga lo que piensa en las reuniones semanales.

La realidad de todos nuestros programas es que debemos recaudar dinero - a travez de membresías y donativos, a travez de ventas de libros y calendarios, y a travez de nuestra recaudación anual de fondos en "el gran evento social de la temporada". Debido a que esa es nuestra principal fuente de ingresos, lo planearemos en nuestra primera reunión. Esperamos que muchas personas asistan y se ofrezcan para alguna actividad. Es mucha diversión para todos, cuando repartimos los trabajos, y en la realidad, Don Pedro hace la parte más difícil con la preparación de los alimentos, las bebidas y establecer el servicio.

Planear una fiesta o evento puede ser mucha diversión, a la vez que ayudar a la comunidad. ¿Vendrá usted a nuestra primera reunión y nos dará una mano?
