On Sunday, November 27th, the town plaza was the official place for local Sayulita residents to cast their vote for the new town judge, also known as the delegado, for Sayulita. The town voted between the Red Party and the Green Party, and Hector Manuel Piña Ortega, representing the Green Party, was announced as the winner of the polls on Sunday night. Hector Manuel Piña Ortega has lived in Sayulita for the last three and half years and runs the hardware store, Ferremateriales Sayulita, located on Calle Miramar. On Friday, November 2nd, Hector Pina will attend a meeting in Valle where the municipal officials will set a date in which Hector Piña will become the town's official delegate. The current town judge, Noe Plascencia, will step down from his role and Hector Piña looks forward to implementing new change in the town.

"I decided to run for town delegate because I saw many needs within the town and some important aspects to change," relates Hector Piña, who has already spoken to neighbourhoods and fellow residents about concerns in the town. On November 30th, a meeting was held where Piña and hotel managers spoke about local tourism and ways to help unite the town. Piña's plans in the upcoming year include establishing a designated delegate's office and a tourism information center in town. In the meantime, Hector Piña encourages locals and residents to visit him at his place of work, Ferremateriales Sayulita, on Calle Miramar.
