Last week, The governor of Nayarit, Roberto Sandoval, came to Sayulita to speak about improvements that will be made to the town. The Governor, in fact, was here to discuss those changes on Friday, January 13th; by early Saturday, at around 7 a.m., tractors of all shapes and styles started rolling into town. There was no hesitation. The traffic police cleared the cars to allow the tractors and crews begin their work.

The rumors have been flying about exactly what will occur during these improvement efforts. So, from the Governor's mouth to your ears, here is what is happening:  The project is called "Nayarit Paradises" and is set for completion in two months. The Governor was able to secure $84 million pesos from the federal govenment (approximately $6.5 million USD) to complete improvements in four "pueblos" in Nayarit: Sayulita, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Higuera Blanca and San Pancho. The improvements are meant to make each town a more tourist-friendly "pueblo" and not to take away any of Sayulita's lovely charm we hold so dear to our hearts.

The additions are restorative and look to improve the downtown historic places. These include changes to: the downtown/plaza walls and benches, access points to the ocean (the three streets from the center will be pedestrian-only entrances to the beach from the beach road, Manuel Navarrette), new sidewalks, wheelchair accessibility, additional lighting, new benches and burying the power and telephone lines below ground. There was also mention of improvements that will be made to the entire water system throughout Sayulita.

If you are in town and would like to see the plans, the Ejido office next to Sayulita Investment Realty has a hard copy available. If you are away, I have provided photos I took of the plans. At the moment, there is a lot of construction and dust; when all is completed the improvements should be a great addition to Sayulita, the gem of the Nayarit coast. Renovaciones de Sayulita

La semana pasada, el Gobernador de Nayarit Roberto Sandoval llego a Sayulita para hablar sobre las mejorias que van a ocurrir en Sayulita. El Gobernador, de hecho, estaba aqui el viernes para hablar sobre los cambios y el siguiente dia a las 7 de la manana, tractores de todas las formas y estilos empezaron a llegar al pueblo. Comenzaron sin reservas. El transito estaba depejando el trafico para que los tractores y trabajadores pudieran iniciar con su trabajo.

El Gobernador fue capas de asegurar $84 milliones de pesos del gobierno federal(aproximamente $6.5 million USD) para hacer mejoras a cuatro pueblos en Nayarit: Sayulita, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Higuera Blanca y San Pancho. Los mejoras estan destinadas a hacer cada pueblo mas amistable a los turistas y no tomar el encanto adorable que es cerca de nuestros corazones.

Los mejoras son restoritivas y buscan mejorar los lugares historicos del centro. Esos incluyen cambios al: plaza, banquetes, accesos al mar(tres entradas del centro como peatonal entradas al mar desde la calle de la playa, Manuel Navarrette), nuevos caminos, accessos para descapacidades, mas luz, y poniendo los lineas telefonicas abajo del sueldo. Tambien mencionaron que van a hacer mejoras al sistema del agua portable en Sayulita.
