Kids Helping Sayulita
The other night my family and I had Mr. Steve and Miss Laura over at our house for dinner. When we were finished it started to rain, hard. Our house started leaking so we started pushing water out of our house. Then it started to pour rain and it started to flood. When we got most of the water out, Mr. Steve and Miss Laura left to check out their house. It was raining even harder so we started to get things that were getting wet, like couches up into our bedroom. When we finished putting the things away my dad and me went outside to see if anyone needed help.
When we got outside the street next to ours was a river. Some of our neighbor's houses were under water so they came to sleep at our house. The next day the power was off and it was drizzling when I left to go to school. When I got to school it was raining much harder and so the teachers said that there would be no school. When I got home the rain kinda stopped so we went over to our neighbors Belen's to help get her belongings to a safer place than her flooded house. When it stopped raining and all the the belongings of Belen were out of her house and in our house, it was time for dinner. We went over to another friend's house and ate dinner together then the power went back on!
The next morning we went to the school to help. The school's back wall fell down and washed away into the river. There was no school because it was not safe-- we could fall right into the river walking out the classroom door! I filled sandbags with all the teachers and my friends Enrique,Galleia and Eño. Later in the day Jade and Kianna came and helped flip pages of all the wet textbooks to try and keep them from sticking together.
The next day Jazz, Miller, lots of my neighbors, my parents and I helped clean some of the houses in the Tamarindo neighborhood. We cleaned lots of houses; there was a lot of mud. The next few days, CVIS teachers and parents helped clean the houses on the street where Sayulita Animals is located. Sayulita Animals is now clean and ready to open up again. Kianna and I helped clean some of the houses and passed out clothes and food to people. Now since a lot of work has been done Sayulita is looking much better. Everything is being rebuilt and people can go back to their homes. The best part of this flooding disaster is that everyone helped everyone!
