Junior World Surf Finalists Share Their Sayulita Pride

Two Sayulita youths, Nomme Mignot, 14 and Cousin Diego Mignot, 16, recently competed in the ISA Dakine World Junior Championships in Panama, representing France against approximately 600 other competitors from around the world. Both young surfers have dual citizenship, French and Mexican and have competed for Mexico in national championships as well. Most recently, during a competition in Puerto Escondido, they were selected to compete in New Zealand, where the French surf team recognized their talent and offered that the boys represent France in the European Pro Juniors.

After training in Australia with 25 other surf talents in January of this year, Nommet and Diego were selected to move forward in competing in the ISA Dakine World Junior Championships, which culminated on April 22nd. The Mignot boys placed 5th and 6th place in the semi-finals this month. During an interview, Nomme and Diego thanked Sayulita, Mexico and their surf companions from Sayulita for their support. "Nomme and Diego are very proud to represent France and consider Sayulita, Mexico their home" says Christoff Mignot, Nomme's father and Diego's uncle, who owns and operates Hotel Petit d'Hafa here in Sayulita.

Finalistas del Junior Mundial Comparten su Orgullo de Sayulita

Dos jóvenes de Sayulita, Nomme Mignot, 14, y su primo Diego Mignot, 16, recientemente compitieron en el ISA Dakine World Junior Championships en Panamá representando a Francia contra unos 600 competidores de todo el mundo. Los dos jóvenes surfistas con la doble nacionalidad, francesa y mexicana han competido por México en los campeonatos nacionales. Más recientemente, durante una competición en Puerto Escondido, fueron seleccionados para competir en Nueva Zelanda, donde el equipo de surf francés reconoció su talento y les ofreció a los muchachos para representar a Francia en los Pro Juniors europeos.

Después del entrenamiento en Australia con otros 25 talentos de surf en enero de este año, Nommet y Diego fueron seleccionados para avanzar en la competencia en el ISA Dakine World Junior Championships que culminó el 22 de abril. Los chicos Mignot colocaron el 5 º y 6 º en las semifinales este mes. Durante una entrevista Nomme y Diego agradecieron a Sayulita, México y sus compañeros de surf de Sayulita por su apoyo. "Nomme y Diego están muy orgullosos de representar a Francia y considerar Sayulita, México su hogar", dice Christoff Mignot, el padre de Nomme y el tio de Diego, que es propietario y opera el Hotel Petit d'Hafa en Sayulita.
