First time in Sayulita? My first time in Sayulita was in 2004. I came to Sayulita to help my brother Miguel Muro at his restaurant Sayulita Café. I fell in love with Sayulita and I liked the people here.
Primera vez en Sayulita? La primera vez que llegué a Sayulita fue en el año 2004. Me vine a Sayulita para ayudar a mi hermano Miguel Muro en su restaurante Sayulita Café. Me encantó Sayulita y me gustó la gente de aquí.

Family History and Information? I was born in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco but my family comes from San Sebastian Del Oeste, Jalisco. I have 6 brothers and 6 sisters, although 2 of my sisters have passed away.
¿Historia de la familia? Nací en Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco pero toda mi familia viene de San Sebastian Del Oeste, Jalisco. Tengo a 6 hermanos y 6 hermanas, aunque 2 de mis hermanas ya han fallecido.

Education History? I studied secondary school in Puerto Vallarta and I’ve always enjoyed studying different languages. I took a couple of French and Italian language courses in Puerto Vallarta and I studied French and German in Cancun. I lived in Venezuela for 1 year where I studied Portuguese as well.
¿Historia de Educación? Estudié la secundaria en Puerto Vallarta y siempre me gustó estudiar diferentes idiomas también. Tomé unos cursos de Frances e italiano en Puerto Vallarta y estudié francés y alemán en Cancún también. Viví un año en Venezuela donde también estudie portugués.

Business History? I started working when I was 13 at a hotel in Puerto Vallarta called Molino de Agua. I worked there for 5 years doing everything from gardening to waiting on tables in the restaurant. When I was 18 years old I started working at a restaurant called Jacks Mediterranean. Then I worked at the Camino hotel as the waiters' helper and worked my way up to manager of the cafeteria. From 1982 to 1983 I worked in Mexico City at an Argentinean restaurant. I then returned to Puerto Vallarta where I started working at the Sheraton Hotel as the Food and Beverage manager. I decided to move to Cancun in 1993 and I ran a small hotel called Suite Brisas. In 1997 I moved to Venezuela and there I was the Food and Beverage manager at Pearl Palace Hotel and Casino. After 1 year of living in Venezuela, I moved back to Cancun and worked as an assistant manager at the Belmar Hotel. In 2004 I came to Sayulita to work in Sayulita Café helping my brother but I suffered a heart attack in 2007 and I was unable to work for 1 year. In January 2009 I took over el Bicho restaurant.
¿Historia de Trabajo? Empecé a trabajar a los 13 años en un hotel en Puerto Vallarta que se llamaba Molino De Agua. Trabaje 5 años ahí haciendo un poco de todo, del jardinero hasta mesero en el restaurante. Cuando cumplí 18 años fui a trabajar en un restaurante que se llamaba Jacks Mediterráneo. Luego trabajaba en el hotel Camino Real como ayudante de mesero hasta que llegue a ser el gerente de cafetería. Del año 1982 hasta 1983 trabajaba en la ciudad de México en un restaurante argentino. De ahí regrese a Puerto Vallarta para trabajar como gerente de alimentos y bebidas en el hotel Sheraton. En el año 1993 decidí mudarme a Cancún y trabajaba y manejaba un hotelito que se llamaba Suite Brisas. En 1997 me mude a Venezuela por un ano donde trabajaba como el gerente de alimentos y bebidas en el hotel y casino Pearl Palace. Después de un año en Venezuela regrese a Cancún y trabajaba como el subgerente del hotel Belmar. En el año 2004 me vine a Sayulita para ayudar a mi hermano en el Sayulita Café pero desafortunadamente sufrí un infarto y no pude trabajar por 1 año. En enero de 2009 me traspasaron el restaurante el Bicho.

What is your favorite food in Sayulita? I like all kinds of seafood and seafood platters. I also like chicken tamales
¿Cual es tu comida favorita en Sayulita? Me gustan mucho los mariscos y el campechano de mariscos y los tamales de pollo.

How do you feel about public education in Sayulita? I think more languages need to be taught in the public schools and also more language classes taught in Sayulita. I think languages are important to know, especially living in Sayulita where we get tourists from not only the USA but also from Europe. Many French Canadians visit our town as well and I think French should be taught more in the schools along with English.
¿Como te sientes acerca de la educación publica en Sayulita? Creo que es necesario enseñar más idiomas en las escuelas públicas y que haya más clases de idiomas en Sayulita. Creo que es importante saber diferentes idiomas, en especial si vives aquí en Sayulita donde tenemos a muchos turistas que nos visitan de Europa y también hay muchos Canadienses que hablan francés que vienen a Sayulita y debe de haber más clases de francés en las escuelas aparte del idioma ingles.

What do you enjoy most about Sayulita? I like the people in Sayulita. The locals are very easy-going and relaxed. The people of Sayulita support one another morally and I think that is important in a small town.
¿Que es lo que mas disfrutas de Sayulita? Me gusta la gente de Sayulita. Los locales son muy tranquilos y relajados. La gente de Sayulita apoya a todos moralmente y creo que eso es importante en un pueblo pequeño.

Is there anything you would like to change in Sayulita? If I could change something it would be the location of the water treatment plant. It is located right on the beach and I think there could be a better place for it than where tourists come to visit our beautiful beach.¿Hay algo que te gustaría cambiar en Sayulita? Si pudiera cambiar algo seria la ubicación de la planta de tratamiento de agua. Esta ubicada en la playa y creo que hay otros lugares mas adecuados que en la playa donde muchos vienen a visitar nuestra playa bonita.

Is there a favorite story you could share for El Sayulero? I suffered a heart attack in 2007 and I had to have open heart surgery which I had done in Guadalajara. I not only survived the heart attack but also the open heart surgery which can involve complications. I’d like to share with the readers of El Sayulero that my heart problems were caused from smoking and it’s very important to teach the youth not to smoke.
¿Hay alguna historia en particular que te gustaría compartir con los lectores de El Sayulero? Sufrí un infarto en 2007 y tuve una cirugía de corazón abierto en Guadalajara. No solamente sobreviví el infarto sino la cirugía también que puede involucrar complicaciones. Me gustaría compartir con los lectores de El Sayulero que lo que me causo los problemas cardiacos fue por fumar y creo que es importante enseñar a los jóvenes lo importante que es no fumar.
