Where were you born and when did you first arrive in Sayulita? I was born in Leon, Guanajuato and since I can remember, my family and I have always come to Sayulita every year on vacation. When I was 12 years old, my father decided to come with our family to live here in Sayulita.

¿Donde naciste y cuando llegaste a Sayulita? Nací en León, Guanajuato y desde que puedo recordar, mi familia y yo hemos venido a Sayulita cada ano de vacaciones. Cuando tenía 12 anos, mi papa decidió venir a vivir aquí en Sayulita con la familia.

Family information? My parents still live here in Sayulita. My father works on cars doing bodywork and paint jobs on vehicles and my mother ran a small eatery on calle Revolucion just before the Punta Mita highway; she has since closed the eatery after the floods in Sayulita occurred in September. I have two brothers and two sisters; I am the second eldest in the family and I have three nephews.

Mi papa es laminero y pinta carros y mi mama tenia una cocina económica en calle revolución antes de llegar a la carretera Punta Mita, desde entonces ha cerrado el lugar después de las inundaciones que sucedieron en Sayulita en septiembre. Tengo dos hermanos y dos hermanas, soy el secundo mas grande de la familia y tengo tres sobrinos.

Work information? I first began working with by father on cars and bodywork on vehicles and then I began working in front of Papas Palapas renting surf boards on the beach. After that I started working for Nazario at Sinenen and Lunazul surf shops. I have recently taken the lifeguarding course to become one of Sayulita's lifeguards. We train every Thursday in CPR, how to properly rescue someone and other basic training techniques. There are a total of six lifeguards now in Sayulita and Dr. Moy and his wife Paulina are called in during emergency rescue situations.

¿Información laboral? Empecé a trabajar con mi papa en su trabajo de laminero y pintor de carros, luego empecé a trabajar en frente papas palapas rentando tablas de surf en la playa. Despues comencé a trabajar para Nazario en las tiendas de surf Sinenen y Lunazul. Recientemente tome el curso de rescate para ser salvavidas en Sayulita. Entrenamos todos los jueves haciendo CPR, como rescatar a alguien y otras técnicas de entrenamiento para salvavidas. Somos seis salvavidas ahora en Sayulita y se llama al Dr. Moy y su esposa en caso de emergencia en la playa.

When did you first start surfing? I began surfing as soon as I came to Sayulita to live. I remember being in secondary school and friends and I would come to the beach after school to surf.

What are the biggest changes you have seen in Sayulita? I remember Sayulita was a lot quieter with less people. My family and I lived in the Mangal area of Sayulita and there were no street lights at that time. I remember being scared when I would go out at night because there were not as many houses as there are now and it was a long, dark walk to town.

¿Cuales son los cambios más grandes que has visto en Sayulita? Me acuerdo que Sayulita era mucho mas tranquilo y había menos gente. Mi familia y yo vivíamos en el vecindario de Mangal y no había candelabros en las calles. Me acuerdo que cuando era muy joven tenía miedo de salir en las noches porque no había tantas casas ahí como ahora y el camino al pueblo era largo y obscuro.

What do you like best about Christmas time in Sayulita? There are more visitors during the holiday season and more work for everybody in town. I also like the waves in Sayulita during this time of year; it's great surfing conditions.

¿Que te gusta mas de navidad en Sayulita? Hay más visitantes durante los días festivos y mas trabajo para todos, también me gustan las olas que hay en Sayulita durante esta época de ano. Las condiciones para surfear son muy buenas.
