How old are you and where were you born? I am 26 years old, I was born here in Sayulita. I have lived here my whole life and I am planning to die here.

Cuantos anios tienes y donde naciste? Tengo 26 anios, naci aqui en sayulita. he vivido aqui toda mi vida y aqui pienso morir.

Family history? My dad’s name is Matias Castellon Aguirre, he is 45 years old, he works as a construction worker; my mom is Susana Rodriguez Plascencia, she is 45 years old and she is a housewife. I am the oldest of 3 children. My brother Francisco Javier is 24 years old and he works in construction; Patricio, the youngest, goes to the CETMAR in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle.

Historia familiar?. Mi papa es Matias Castellon Aguirre, tiene 45 anios, el trabaja en materiales de construccion; mi mama se Susana Rodriguez Plascencia, tiene 45 anios, y es ama de casa. Yo soy la mayor, despues sigue Francisco Javier, tiene 24 anios, el es jornalero de construccion y Patricio, tiene 15 anios, estudia turismo en el CETMAR de la Cruz de Huanacaxtle.

Work history? I started to work when I was 18 years old, as a secretary for Materiales Sayulita, for about 5 years; then I joined the Sayulita Fish Taco, as a restaurant manager for 4 years and then I dropped that job to start my own business: Mariscos Purillo’s on Revolution Avenue nearby the Centro de Salud at the other side of the fallen bridge.

Historia laboral? Empece a trabajar a los 18 anios en Materiales Sayulita, como secretaria, ya no quise estudiar y decidi meterme a trabajar, labore ahi aproximadamente 5 anios. de ahi me fuia Sayulita Fish Taco, como encargada del restaurante por 4 anios y me sali para abrir mi negocio de Mariscos Purillo’s sobre la avenida Revolucion cerca del CEntro de Salud, del otro lado del puente caido.

Education history? From kindergarden to junior high school I went to all the local  public schools here in Sayulita. I was part of the first generation of graduated students from our own Secundaria Revolucion Mexicana. From there, I went for a minor business managment degree at the CETMAR in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. After that, I decided not to continue my studies.

Historia educativa? De preescolar a secundaria los curse aqui en sayulita. Fui parte de la primera generacion de la secundaria Revolucion Mexicana, de ahi estudie Administracion de empresas turisticas en el CETMAR de la Cruz de Huanacaxtle. Ya no quise seguir estudiando.

What do you like about Sayulita? I like the people, the parties, the beaches. The whole package of Sayulita itself.

Que es lo que te gusta de Sayulita? Me gusta su gente. sus fiestas. sus playas, todo el pueblo en si.

What are the positive changes that you have seen in Sayulita? The infractrusture, the town has evolved a lot. the improvements to the Avenue, made by the guvernment and the American people, they help the town so much, that is the best.

Cuales son los cambios positivos que has visto en Sayulita? La infraestructura, ha crecido mucho. los arreglos que le han hecho, la avenida, el gobierno ha ayudado y los americanos que ayudan mucho, es lo mejor.

What would you suggest to the people that comes for the first time to Sayulita? That they should come and try my food (laughs). Well, they should come and visit our beaches.

Que le aconsejas a la gente que viene por primera vez a Sayulita? Que vengan a probar mis mariscos (risas). que conozcan sus playas.

How do you picture sayulita in 5 years from now? Bigger. With more investors, because the tourists always come back, they like Sayulita either to live or for business.

Como ves a sayulita en 5 anios? Mas grande. con mas inversionistas, porque la gente que viene, les gusta tanto para vivir aqui como para hacer negocios.

Why do you like to live here? Because this IS my town. my whole family is here and one day I expect to die here.

Porque te gusta vivir aqui? Porque es mi pueblo. me gusta, aqui esta toda mi familia y aqui pienso morir.
