Where were you born and how old are you?
I was born here in Sayulita; I'm forty three years old.

Mi abuelita anduvo con los guerrilleros. La llevaban para que los atendieron y tuvo una hija, luego regresó a Sayulita y conoció a mi abuelo.

Family history?
My grandmother was captured by the warriors of the revolution to work for them; she had a daughter. She returned to Sayulita where she met and married my grandfather.

3. ¿Tienes hijos?
Sí, estoy casada y tengo cuatro hijos. Fred tiene 25 años y trabaja aquí en Sayulita, Armando tiene 24 años y estudia medicina en Guadalajara, y Misael tiene 21 años y estudia para ser psicólogo en Puerto Vallarta. La más pequeña, Laura Angélica, tiene seis años.

Do you have children?
Yes, I have four children. Fred is 25 and works here in Sayulita, Armando is 24 and is studying medicine in Guadalajara. Misael is 21 and is studying to be a psychologist in Puerto Vallarta; the youngest is Laura Angelica, and she's six years old.

4. ¿A qué te dedicas?
Me dedico a mi negocio, la lavandería, y mi hogar.

Work history?
I have my own business, a laundromat, and I'm busy with my home and family.

5. ¿Cómo era la vida aquí en Sayulita cuando era pequeña?
Muy diferente, había muy pocas cosas, no había plaza, sólo un cerro con mucha vegetación donde jugábamos, no había agua ni luz, usamos aparatos para darnos luz.

What was life like in Sayulita when you were young?
It was very different, there was a lot more vegetation, there was no plaza, just a big hill where we used to play. There was no water or electricity, we used to use kerosene lamps for light.

6. ¿Qué cambios has visto en Sayulita?
Ahora viven muchos americanos y hay más negocios.

What changes have you seen in Sayulita?
Many more Americans live here now and there are many more businesses.

7. ¿Has viajado a otras partes de México?
Conozco Chiapas, Guanajuato y Guadalajara.

I've been to Chiapas, Guanajuato and Guadalajara.

8. ¿Qué mejoras le gustaría ver en Sayulita?
Me gustaría ver más negocios y más hoteles para tener más trabajo para nosotros.

What improvements would you like to see in Sayulita?
I'd like to see more businesses and hotels opening to provide more work for us.

9. ¿Qué es lo que más le gusta de vivir en Sayulita?
El mar, y todo Sayulita, la gente, me gusta mucho mi pueblo. También me gusta que tantos extranjeros vivan aquí, es por ellos que tenemos trabajo.

What do you like most about life in Sayulita?
The sea and all of Sayulita; I really like my town. I like the people and the fact that so many foreigners live here; it's because of them that we have work.
