You might sit next to someone on the airplane who is head of a foundation. Perhaps your next-door neighbor is the owner of a school supply business. Maybe you are a member of the Rotary. Any of these connections might lead to a partnership on a project to help Sayulita.

Grupo Pro Sayulita works very hard to raise money at our annual Fiesta-Fundraiser, selling rooster books for the schools, and seeking small donations from individuals.  But there are two areas that we have not pursued vigorously enough:  soliciting funds from large North American corporations and organizations, and asking residents to think of Sayulita in their wills.

We need to explore how to better make large donations tax deductible. Although large donations can go through an umbrella 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we lose a percentage of this income in service fees. Unfortunately, setting up a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the U.S., that would basically only fund Grupo Pro Sayulita (which does all of its work in Mexico), does not fit within the guidelines of a 501(c)(3) organization.

While we sort if all out, we do have opportunities for partnerships. For example, Rotary Clubs are famous for carrying out specific projects, like helping schools in other countries. I can't think of a better opportunity than in Sayulita. When Barbara and I traveled to Africa, we visited a local school that was getting steady funding from the travel agency's foundation. Most travelers were asked to leave a small donation. Can we arrange to do the same, perhaps with Yoga or surfing organizations, or by leaving donation envelopes in hotels and rental homes?

Finally, is it possible when residents make out their wills, to think about including Sayulita in their bequests?  We all will die someday, and it would be great to be able to make an impact on our special town. Grupo Pro Sayulita would be more than willing to make sure the funds are used beneficially for the community, whether for a specific cause or for general use.

If Sayulita is giving you pleasure, perhaps now is the time to think how you can help Sayulita. If might not take much more than signing a piece of paper or making a telephone call to someone you know. Let your imagination run wild! We look forward to receiving the good news.

¿PUEDE CAMBIAR MUCHO LAS COSAS USTED?

Usted quizás se siente luego a alguien en el avión que es cabeza de una base. Quizás su vecino de al lado es propietario de un negocio de suministro de escuela. Quizá es un miembro de la Rotonda. Cualquiera de estas conexiones quizás lleve a una asociación en un proyecto para ayudar Sayulita.

Grupo Pro Sayulita trabaja muy recaudar dinero duramente en nuestro Fiesta-Recogedor DE FONDOS anual, vendiendo gallo los libros para las escuelas, y buscando pequeños donativos de individuos. Pero hay dos áreas que nosotros no hemos seguido vigerously suficiente-solicitando fondos de corporaciones y organizaciones norteamericanas grandes, y de pedir a residente de pensar en Sayulita en sus voluntades.

Debemos explorar mejor cómo hacer donativos grandes desgravables. Aunque donativos grandes puedan atravesar una organización 501c3 aglutinadora, nosotros perdemos un porcentaje de estes ingresos para pagar la compensación por servicios. Desafortunadamente, estableciendo un 501c3 organización sin fines lucrativos en EEUU que básicamente sólo financiaría Grupo Pro Sayulita (que hace todo es el trabajo en México) no queda dentro de las pautas de una organización 501c3.

Mientras tanto, hay posibilidades quietas para asociaciones. Por ejemplo, los Rotary Clubs son famosos para el llevar a cabo proyectos específicos, como escuelas auxiliares en otros países. Yo no puedo pensar en una mejor oportunidad que en Sayulita. Cuando Barbara y yo viajaron a Africa, nosotros visitamos una escuela de local que conseguía financiación constante de la base de la agencia de viajes. La mayoría de los viajeros fueron pedidas dejar un pequeño donativo. ¿Podemos arreglar hacer el mismo, quizás con Yoga o Surf organizaciones, o saliendo donativo sobres en unidades de hoteles y renta?

¿Por último, es posible cuando residentes hacen fuera sus voluntades, para pensar de inclusive Sayulita en sus legados? Todos nos moriremos algún día, y seríamos gran poder hacer un impacto en nuestro pueblo especial. Grupo Pro Sayulita sería más que dispuesto a asegurarse de que los fondos son utilizados beneficiosamente para la comunidad, si para una causa específica o para el uso general.

Si Sayulita le da placer, quizás ahora es el tiempo de pensar cómo puede ayudar Sayulita. Si no quizás tome mucho más que firmando un papel ni hacer una llamada telefónica a alguien usted sabe. ¡Permita que su imaginación corra salvajemente! Esperamos buenas noticias recipientes.
