Bite This: The Don Juan Plate at Don Juan's

Yes, I can't believe I ate the whole thing...but I did and I loved it! This hefty platter of food is not about quantity but about quality and presentation. Don Juan is on the Punta Mita highway on the right as you go out of town. It isn't very well marked. Lack of signage is the only factor this excellent restaurant lacks. Once inside, you will be charmed by how totally attractive the setting is - fresh, neat, cozy, tranquil and romantic.

On the Don Juan special plate everything is top quality and distinctive. The chile relleno was especially estimable. Under the lettuce shreds there we two, crisp, small, chicken tacos filled with moist meat. The tamale was very tender and stuffed with excellent spiced pork. But what really caught my attention was a radish, cut in the shape of a blooming flower and created by a master carver. When excellent food is presented in an attractive way, it becomes the hallmark of a restaurant. And the service was also charming and considerate.

The flan kept up the high level of taste and presentation. The dish was enlivened by a strawberry sauce, another example of subtle creativity. Don Juan is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Mark this one down to try, for sure.

Muerde Esto: El Platillo Especial de Don Juan's

No puedo creer que me lo comí todo... pero lo hice y me encanto. Este plato grande de comida no se trata de la cantidad sino la calidad y presentación. Don Juan's esta ubicado en la carretera Punta de Mita al lado derecho si sales del pueblo. No se ve muy bien pero el letrero es lo único que hace falta en este excelente restaurante. Una vez que entras vas a ver el encanto del ambiente, fresco, cómodo, limpio, tranquilo y romántico.

En el platillo del Don Juan todo es de alta calidad y distintivo. El chile relleno fue especialmente estimable. Debajo de la lechuga, hubo dos taquitos crujientes de pollo. El tamale fue muy delicioso y relleno de puerco con especias. Pero lo que mas me llamo la atención fue el rábano, cortado en forma de una flor y creado por tallista. Cuando se presenta la comida rica en forma tan atractiva, se convierte en el "hallmark" del restaurante. El servicio también estuvo amable.

El flan fue presentado bonito con muy rico sabor. El platillo del flan llevaba una salsita de fresa, otro ejemplo de creatividad. Don Juan abre para el desayuno, almuerzo y cena. Pruébalo por supuesto.
