Last Saturday, Skaters of Sayulita showed up and skated up and down jumps and rails and down steep hills all day on Miramar, to raise money for a Skate Park in Sayulita. All I can say is, there are some amazing skaters of all ages here and they definitely deserve a cool park

In the middle of this week, all of a sudden there were men stringing banners of flags across the streets and some street vendors were selling flags, all getting ready for Independence day. Next week is the parade. But this year they've really gone all out with the decorations. Here are a few shots:

I just got back to Sayulita after a month away and found some cool new things had happened:

I spent a week trying to get a group portrait of all the local surfers. Here are a few of the shots I took. Quite a handsome bunch!

It looks as thought they are finally finished with the plaza. There are plants, benches, grass. Here are some recent photos, followed by older versions. What's your favorite incarnation? I think I'm kind of partial the the pink period.

In the final game a couple of weeks ago, Sayulita won against Bucerias. It was a great game and a great turn out!

Sayulita Sunsets are always something to look forward to at the end of the day.

The good thing about always having your camera with you is being able to catch those fun shots you just happen to see. Here are a couple of my recent favorites:

Lo bueno de siempre llevar tu camera contigo es que puedes capturar aquellos momentos divirtidos que pasan. Aqui son unos de mis favoritos:

Smoothies are a favorite here in Sayulita. There's a ton of places that make them, and I plan to photograph them all at some point. But one of my favorite places is the Breakfast Cafe. Rene and Octavia have turned this into a pretty cool place to get smoothies, all sorts of great food and a beautiful spot just to hang out, have coffee (or a delicious cocktail), enjoy the fabulous view

Sayulita has been power-washed clean! All of the streets & sidewalks in town (except the ones than are still torn up, of course) are so clean it almost looks like Disneyland. They worked through the night to complete the job and it looks great. Come out today and check it out. Hurry up though, nothing lasts forever.

This morning I walked down to the beach and found that the entire north side had become a campground. It seems that Sayulita is the new destination for college kids from all over Mexico, and I mean all over. One group had driven 20 hours from Monterrey! In case you're wondering just how many people are here--have a look...and get ready for a wild weekend!

Everyone needs to get beauty treatments once in a while--a haircut, manicure, waxing--like that. Luckily, we have great places and gals to go to for all of these. I've had great treatments all from all three of these gorgeous, talented gals:

While the construction on the streets of Sayulita is still going strong--and still a big mess, the few streets that are finished look great! And lots of the businesses have taken this time to repaint and redesign their outdoor space. This place is going to be completely beautiful when it's finally finished!

For the third year, Punta Sayulita is holding the Stand Up & Long Board Surf Contest. Come on down to the beach and catch all the action.

I don't know about you, but I've been avoiding downtown since all the construction has started--lots of dirt, machinery, closed streets. But the other day I went into the heart of it and was really excited by what I saw--the new beautification of Sayulta. There's still plenty of dirt and construction going on, but when all this work is finally over, Sayulita is truly going to be a Pueblo Magico. Have a look for yourself...

Okay, so it's called Sayulita Days, but really, except for the parade today, everything happens at night. What I love about this Sayulita fair is there's something for everyone...rides, games, food and cocktails!

When the people vacationing show up for Christmas/New Years holidays, Sayulita really does transform into another place-- Saint Tropez, maybe? It's kind of fun walking around like a tourist looking at all the people. In case you missed it, here's what our quiet little town beach looked like.

I like to get off the beach sometimes and look at Sayulita from different places. I live two blocks from the beach, so it's an effort, but I'm always happy when I do. I think Sayulita looks great from every angle!

I've been photographing Sayulita for about 10 years, some of which have been seen here in El Sayulero. This Saturday I'm having a show of my some favorite photos I've taken over the years. Here is a sneak preview. Stop by Garcia Realty Saturday 5-7pm to take a look.

One of my favorite things about weddings in Sayulita is the Mariachi Bands. Love the music, the singing and the instruments, but I especially love the outfits. Here are a few shots I've grabbed over the last couple of years.
