When the people vacationing show up for Christmas/New Years holidays, Sayulita really does transform into another place-- Saint Tropez, maybe? It's kind of fun walking around like a tourist looking at all the people. In case you missed it, here's what our quiet little town beach looked like.

I like to get off the beach sometimes and look at Sayulita from different places. I live two blocks from the beach, so it's an effort, but I'm always happy when I do. I think Sayulita looks great from every angle!

I've been photographing Sayulita for about 10 years, some of which have been seen here in El Sayulero. This Saturday I'm having a show of my some favorite photos I've taken over the years. Here is a sneak preview. Stop by Garcia Realty Saturday 5-7pm to take a look.

One of my favorite things about weddings in Sayulita is the Mariachi Bands. Love the music, the singing and the instruments, but I especially love the outfits. Here are a few shots I've grabbed over the last couple of years.

I don't always keep up with the current events of Sayulita, but I'm always photographing the people of Sayulita. Here are a few people I see all the time around town....

My goal is to photograph as much of Sayulita and its people as I can, so I thought I'd start this new season with its newest citizens--new babies and soon to be born babies and their parents. This was just one day, but a beautiful turn-out of gorgeous babies, mamas and papas.

Sayulita had its first Dia de Muertos Festival in the Plaza this year; the altars that Sayuleros made were beautiful and quite poignant, especially given that so many of the people whom the altars honored have died in recent years and months.

Whenever I'm walking around with my big fat camera, it's always guys who say, "Hey! Take a picture of me!" Yesterday when these two guys hollered out to me, they were kind of surprised when I walked over and started shooting. They own shops right next to each other on Avenida Revolucion, just past El Espresso.

My friend Jose Luis Caselin asked if I would photograph his posse of Stand-up surfers on Independence Day. Usually I have to prod and poke people to get them to be in photos for me, so I jumped at the chance. Who knew a bunch of guys could come up with such fun props and poses for a little photo shoot? Here they are, Sayulita's finest SUP surfers.

I heard the surf was really big the other day, so I moseyed down to the beach. All I saw were lots of people watching the surf. Didn't seem that big to me. I walked down to the left of La Terrazola and lo and behold, the waves started coming in HUGE sets. Lots of guys on the beach would whistle out to the surfers to warn them of a huge set outside. A few of the local surfers were out, plus some I'd never seen.

All sorts of people make up the community of Sayulita. Some have lived here since they were kids, like Simone Gomez Cibrian, who is now retired and raises chickens and cultivates organic basil. And some, like Mary Greenfield, moved here full time years ago--after her children were grown--and started painting.

Chocobanana in July is a great place to be while relaxing in the heat of summer.

But then again, maybe it is? Who knew there were actual disco balls in the homes of Sayuleros?

Saturday is International Surfing Day and Sayulita definitely has it's share of surfers--many of whom will most likely be surfing that day. Because that's what they do here--surf. Here's a few portraits I've grabbed over the last few years of some of Sayulita's finest.

Sayulita summer. Yes it's hot, humid, sticky. But it's also beautiful, quiet...the beaches are empty, the water is warm. We had our first rain on Tuesday night and soon all the hillsides will be amazingly green. I think this is my favorite time of year. See what you're missing?

Just in time for Easter, Sayulita Plaza got a new paint job. Pink--bright pink, with pink and green trim and some turquoise benches thrown in for some eye-popping pleasure. I'm happy to pronounce: Sayulita looks pretty in pink!
I love it!

I'm not really religious, but I've always like the idea that this giant cross was watching over Sayulita. I made a little pilgrimage from my house, up and over the hill to photograph it--and had some nice views on the way. I thought it was appropriate for Palm Friday and Easter. Happy Easter!

The Cat Walk is the term used to describe the runway that models strut down while wearing designer clothes. While Sayulita may not be one of the fashion capitols of the world, nor does it have a "cat walk," it does have its share of fashionable women. They all showed up in droves for the 1st Annual Sayulita Animal Clinic Wine Tasting and Fashion Show - the best "cat walked" fashion show ever. The models & clothes were gorgeous, but in the end, the baby models stole the show.

There are some things you just can't get done in Sayulita. Getting your eyes checked and camera repaired are a couple. One simply must venture down to the big city--PV. This week, my favorite guys in Puerto Vallarta are Alberto, the optician at Costco and Ernesto Botello , the best camera repairman (and only one as far as I can tell) in all of Puerto Vallarta. Both are excellent at what they do, extremely nice and very good sports about being photographed. Thanks, guys. I see everything much clearer now.

Okay, I admit it.....I've been too busy shooting for visitors to just shoot around town. So, I figured I may as well feature a couple of Sayuita's finest guests....
