Fresh out of the University of New Mexico, after finishing her last semester in San Cristobal de las Casas in Chiapas, Mexico, Angela decided to get some “real” life experience.  She wasn’t ready to go back to the States and continue graduate studies at this time.  Instead, she moved to Sayulita and is satisfying her love of beautiful properties by working as a sales agent for Sayulita Investment Realty (SIR).  When she is not showing properties, she is surfing, running, throwing a frisbee, playing tennis or indulging in the delicious food around the pueblo.

Sayulita may be taking a big step forward in the area of emergency response. At the February 1st Grupo Pro Sayulita (GPS) meeting, Brian Singleton, the regional representative for the non-profit organization called Fire Fighters Crossing Boarders (FFCB), spoke about an important project. Singleton described FFCB as "a non-profit organization founded by firefighters for firefighters. We provide assistance to emergency response agencies located in Mexico by providing equipment, training and education to those who want it."

Would you put you car for sale on the street without washing it? Would you go to a job interview without brushing your hair? Would you leave peeling paint, unkempt gardens and dirty windows in and on your house that was For Sale? Some people do!

Last week, The governor of Nayarit, Roberto Sandoval, came to Sayulita to speak about improvements that will be made to the town. The Governor, in fact, was here to discuss those changes on Friday, January 13th; by early Saturday, at around 7 a.m., tractors of all shapes and styles started rolling into town. There was no hesitation. The traffic police cleared the cars to allow the tractors and crews begin their work.

When purchasing property in a foreign country, you will find many similarities and many differences. One big incentive for foreign buyers is a savings that you will not find on the purchase of property in the States or Canada. This savings comes in the form of property taxes.

Today is the most exciting day of the year for children in Mexico! It is the "Day of the Magic Kings". This tradition goes back 2,000 years and is considered more popular than the tradition of Christmas and Santa Claus in Mexico and many Latin American countries. The history and tradition has changed over time and the overall feeling and story goes something like this.

As a foreigner, the purchase of a Mexican property can seem like an ordeal because the process seems so "different" and "foreign."  In reality, yes, the process is different, and it is very do-able. Today, I've chosen to write about the important subject of "wills in Mexico."  If you have a will in the United States or Canada it will not necessarily cover your Mexican assets.

Have you ever read a restaurant menu that makes your mouth water with each entry option you read? With the mere descriptions showing how much food preparation "love" was to arrive on your plate, the actual arrival of the food thankfully soothes this salivatory sensation. At Rollie's restaurant, I have always read the breakfast menu and felt that whatever hunger I came in with was multiplying right before my eyes. Now, as I sit and read the dinner menu for "Rollie's at Night", it's the same experience all over again.

It is the beginning of high season, the hustle and the bustle of the town heightens with each succeeding week. More people are in the streets eating tacos, there is an abundance of hot dog stands, , the "cake lady" is at her corner in the evening and the new "locales" glisten with this year's featured tourist treasures. What you will also notice on the streets of Sayulita are For Sale signs. Yes, there is a lot of property available at this time for lucky buyers. In real estate parlance, it's a "buyer's market" and, possibly, a correct time for savvy buyers and investors to act because sellers are willing "to deal".

It's almost silence in Don Patos bar on a Tuesday night as a local community member recites his poetry. He is one of the many who sign their name on the list to perform. Whether you personally like what is being recited, sang, or played, there seems to be a general appreciation from the crowd to the existence of this creative night.
